Symphonein

The Greek word for the verb 'to agree' is Symphonein, which is the etymological root of the word 'Symphony'.
To agree is to vibrate in phase, in quantum correlation
Symphonein is what we have named our Structural Integration (Rolfing, or the Rolf Method of) Practice which the two of us share in collaboration with our clients. Our names are Leslie Sprouse Carson and Christopher (Christo) Carson. We are both Certified Advanced Practitioners of the Rolf Method of Structural Integration. This form of bodywork is a combination of systematic and intuitive practices which focuses on opening, aligning, strengthening, and balancing the body's structure. These structural qualities are experienced posturally and in movement as a sense of ease, comfort, flow, and confidence as one navigates through the forces of the earth's gravitational field. The goals of Structural Integration are accomplished through physiological manipulation, kinesthetic repatterning, and somatic education based on the discoveries and teachings of Ida P. Rolf, PhD.

Symphonein originates from the Greek word which literally means to "sound together". Classical musicians sounding together as an integral whole are described as a symphony. The Symphonic wholeness expressed when an orchestra sounds together in a musical performance is a beautiful example of the whole being greater than the sum of the parts. That is, the effects of the performance far outweigh all the parts which consist of the musicians, conductor, instruments, scores, furniture, etc.
The part can never be well unless the whole is well.
Our primary intention with our Structural Integration practice is for us to resonate together with our clients' desires, goals, and needs in order to facilitate the creation of a new higher order structurally and experientially.
This higher order becomes an expression of the harmonious flow of balance and ease-of-being, which unites the unique qualities of personal awareness, and structure of the individual, with the dynamic forces of the universe and the deeper creative potential of nature herself.
With Structural Integration and the two of you, I feel I am falling together rather than falling apart.
Since the two of us practice Structural Integration together as Symphonein, we can offer our clients the option to work with either one of us in a session or to have the two of us collaborate together with a client in a session. For more discussion on the double practitioner option, refer to the 'Magic of Four Hands' section. Although we are both confident with the results one esperiences in a session with either one of us, we feel the work received from both of us in a session is a unique opportunity to deepen and accelerate the changes offered by Structural Integration.
Currently, while our home base for our practice is Amarillo, Texas, we also travel to Austin, Texas, and San Diego, California, to offer sessions in each community. Please feel free to contact us about our schedule or any other questions you might have about Symphonein and Structural Integration. We look forward to being of service to you.
